City Academy Whitehawk Hatchlings Nursery

5th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to announce that following successful staffing appointments, I am able to confirm the opening of our school nursery for Wednesday 8th January 2020.

The nursery will open to application for children who are aged either three or four years old on 31st December 2019. The nursery will operate with two separate groups of children, each group will contain up to 12 children and the group will attend the nursery for sessions totalling 15 hours per week. The cost of these sessions will be covered by Government funding for nursery places for children aged 3 and over and the sessions will therefore be free for families.

One group of children (starting on Wednesday 8th January 2020), will attend nursery on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday (all day) and Friday (all day).

The other group (starting on Monday 13th January 2020), will attend nursery on Monday (all day), Tuesday (all day) and Wednesday morning.

Please be aware, to support a successful transition to our school nursery, children will start with settling-in hours in the first couple of weeks before starting full hours later in January.

Nursery opening times will be 9am until 3pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays, each group attend for half a day, Group 1 will attend from 8.45am until 11.45am; Group 2 will be attend from 12pm until 3pm.

If you would like more information, please pick up a nursery starter pack (which includes an application form) from the school office. If you have any questions, please speak to Mrs Church, Head of Foundation Village.

If you would like a place at our nursery for your child (who will be aged 3 or 4 on 31st December 2019), please complete an application form and return to the school office by Tuesday 19th November at the latest.  Please note that applications will be considered as per our Nursery Admissions Policy, which can be found on the school website under the new nursery tab. If we have more applications than the places available, the date and time of receipt of the application form to the school office may be an important factor.  Following the closing date for applications we will contact all families to confirm whether their application has been successful.

We will invite all families who apply to stay and play sessions on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November.

We will respond to all applications by Tuesday 26th November 2019.

If you are interested in a Nursery place for your child for September 2020, please do not apply yet - we will open a round of applications for 2020-21 in the new year. We will advertise this on our website, Facebook & Twitter.

Please also be aware that an application to join our nursery will not be an application for your child to join our school in Reception for September 2020. Whether your child joins the nursery or not, you will still need to apply to School Admissions for a Reception place for September 2020.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Church

Head Teacher
